We have been working so much the past 2 months, we havent had the time to pen in a decent Newsletter describing all the events that are happening. However the pleasure of announcing them all at once with a BANG now, makes up for the silence.
ICANN Accreditation
For those of you who didnt already know. Directi is an ICANN Accredited Registrar. This happened about 2 months ago, however we didnt want to announce our Accreditation without knowing any timeframes and deadlines. For those of you who dont know what ICANN Accreditation means, chew on the following –

Network Solutions and Register.com and OpenSRS are ICANN Accredited Registrars

ICANN Accredited Registrars are authorised by ICANN to register all the gTLDs ie .com/.net/.org and now the new ones .biz/.info/.name/.aero etc etc directly in the Registry

There are only 179 ICANN Accredited Registrars in the world, of which only around 75 are operational

There are only 4 ICANN Accredited Registrars in India, of which none are yet fully functional

Launching .biz PHASE I
In another precedent Directi is the only Indian Registrar to go live with Phase I of the .biz launch allowing customers to register their IP Claims through us. .biz is the first new TLD to start rollout operations. .biz Domain Registration however has not yet begun. The first phase accepts IP Claim Registrations to protect intellectual property rights of companies who have Trademarks on certain names. An IP Claim ensures that you have a better chance of fighting for your Domain Name incase you are unable to register it and someone else claims it during the actual Registration phase.

to sell the IP Claim Service to their customers. Note: This is a completely different process and Service from the current Directi Hosting offerings and in no way related to the existing Resellers we already have.
Directi Gets A New FACE
So what is the meaning of all this change? What is happening at Directi? Confused?
While you’re scratching your head, you might as well check our new web site at http://www.directi.com. Send us your applauses/brickbats.
Directi has always excelled and competed on the basis of our strength at technology. We have won numerous awards and still win confidence of most our clients based on the fact that there are few companies who provide the level of technical support with the mix of features we offer.
Technology being our core competence, ideally we would like to develop Products and Services on a continuous basis and focus only on our core competence. SO WE DECIDED TO DO JUST THAT. As of now Directi is the only Indian
Registrar to get accredited for all gTLDs and various ccTLDs (more details below). We are actively working (since the past 2 months) on an API far better than those offered by other Registrars and competitors that will allow easy integration of any web site over our API, for allowing our Resellers to transparently sell our Services, with Custom branding, while we work behind the scenes.
Whether it is Domain Registration or any other Service, Directi slowly intends to shift its focus to a complete Reseller-centric model and continue to build Services that maybe sold through our API allowing complete automation for the Reseller.
Our Volume based pricing will allow maximisation of profits and our technology focus will ensure that our Resellers can concentrate on selling our services without having to bother with the maintenance headaches. Our API will make it possible for our Resellers to do this from THEIR OWN WEBSITE.
I could go on talking, however we have put up a detailed architecture of this on our new web site
http://www.directi.com. The first Version of the API is slated to launch in the first week of June. This will allow the Registration of various Domain Names (gTLDs and ccTLDs) at a Volume based Pricing. We will soon after that add DNS Management, Domain Forwarding, and other services to it.
NOTE: Existing Directi operations will continue from our existing web sites

as they are for a while, until we slowly merge operations into the new web site. Your Backoffice and Order interface will continue as they are and so will everything else. Once we launch our RESELLER API in the first week of June, DirectiDomains will be merged into our new web site and all Domain Registration will be routed through our Resellers only. We will keep everyone posted of all the changes.

We have been BUSY BUSY accumulating Service Offerings in time for our launch in the first week of June. We have already launched the .biz PHASE I on our web site
